Humeroulnar head of flexor digitorum superficialis
Caput humeroulnare flexoris superficialis digitorum
- Related terms: Humeroulnar head; Flexor digitorum superficialis : Humeroulnar head
Definition
The humeroulnar head is the larger of the two origins of the flexor digitorum superficialis muscle. It features a broad origin, arising from the medial epicondyle of the humerus (as part of the common flexor tendon), the ulnar collateral ligament, and the coronoid process of the ulna. This head forms the more prominent portion of the muscle belly and converges with the radial head. Notably, the median nerve passes between these two heads as it descends into the forearm, lying deep to the main flexor digitorum superficialis muscle belly.
