The radial head is the second, smaller origin of the flexor digitorum superficialis muscle. It arises from the superior half of the anterior border of the radius, specifically from the anterior oblique line. This head converges with the humeroulnar head, and the median nerve passes between these two heads as it descends into the forearm.
