Groove for middle temporal artery

Sulcus arteriae temporalis mediae

Definition

The groove for middle temporal artery is a slight depression found on the temporal side of temporal bone. You’ll find this groove positioned just ahead of the temporal line, which marks the rear boundary of the temporal bone. The middle temporal artery which ascends in this groove, underneath the temporalis muscle, is a branch of the superficial temporal artery.
