Description: From the lateral surface of the lateral pterygoid plate
The inferior head (inferior belly) of the lateral pterygoid muscle arises from the the lateral surface of the lateral pterygoid plate. It inserts on on the mandibular condyle, or between the condyle, capsule and disk.
