The jugular notch of temporal bone is an irregular indentation found on the posterior border of petrous part, creating the anterior border of the jugular foramen. Occasionally, a bone spur may grow from this jugular notch of the petrous part, dividing the jugular foramen into two separate compartments. It's also worth mentioning that the posterior border of the jugular foramen is made by the matching jugular notch on the occipital bone.
