Opening of cochlear canaliculus
Apertura canaliculi cochleae
- Latin synonym: Apertura externa aquaeductus cochleae
- Synonym: Opening of cochlear aqueduct
Definition
The opening of cochlear canaliculus is found inside a triangular depression located anteromedially to the jugular fossa. This triangular indentation extends mostly within the petrosal area of the jugular foramen, but also reaches back into the posterior cranial fossa. The apex of this indentation is where the opening of cochlear canaliculus is present.
