Popliteal fascia

Fascia poplitea

Definition

Antoine Micheau

The popliteal fascia covers the roof of the popliteal fossa and is continuous with the fascia lata superiorly and the crural fascia inferiorly.

The popliteal fascia underlies the superficial fascia (subcutaneous tissue) and is pierced by the short saphenous vein and the sural nerve.
