Septum of sphenoidal sinuses
Septum sinuum sphenoideorum
- Latin synonym: Septum sinuum sphenoidalium
Definition
The septum of sphenoidal sinuses is a bony partition that divides the right and left sphenoidal air sinuses. Although it’s located in the middle, it often tilts slightly to one side. This tilt makes the two sinuses irregular in shape and being of unequal sizes. Additionally, each sphenoidal air sinus can be divided into sub-compartments by thin bony laminae.
