Definition
The area known as the suprameatal fovea (a.k.a. the supramastoid triangle or the Macewen triangle) covers the side of the mastoid (tympanic) antrum. It’s upper boundary is marked by the supramastoid crest (a noticeable bony ridge above the external acoustic meatus). Anteroinferiorly, the suprameatal fovea is bounded by the posterosuperior margin of the external acoustic meatus, while the posterior boundary aligns with a vertical line extending upward from the posterior border of the external acoustic meatus.
