The anatomic caudal distal radial angle (aCdDRA) is a landmark used to assess angular deformities of the radius and provide guidance for corrections. It is determined from a mediolateral radiograph, or multiplanar reconstructed CT images of the radius.

The anatomic caudal distal radial angle is measured between the distal anatomic radial axis and the distal radial joint orientation line in the sagittal plane.

The following mean value have been reported for the anatomic caudal distal radial angle:

  • Medium and Large breed dogs : 78.3 +/- 4.8° (Fox et al. 2006)

  • Small-breed nonchondrodystrophic dogs : 83.08 +/- 3.14° (Duncan et al.2022)

  • Shih-Tzu : 84.27 +/- 1.79° (Jeong et al. 2020)

  • Welsh Corgi : 59.90 +/- 4.44° (Kwon et al2022)

  • Dachshund : 64.79 +/- 4.43° (Kwon et al2022)

  • Pekingese : 66.53 +/- 3.59° (Kwon et al2022)

  • Matesese : 77.59 +/- 4.72° (Kwon et al2022)

  • Poodle : 71.11 +/- 3.80° (Kwon et al2022)

  • Beagle : 75.62 +/- 3.87° (Kwon et al2022)

  • Labrador Retrievers : 77° (range 75.9 to 78.0°) (Fox and Tomlinson 2018)
