Anatomic cranial proximal radial angle

Anatomic cranial proximal radial angle

  • Acronym: aCrPRA

Definition

Stephan Mahler

The anatomic cranial proximal radial angle (aCrPRA) is a landmark used to assess angular deformities of the radius and provide guidance for corrections. It is determined from a mediolateral radiograph, or multiplanar reconstructed CT images of the radius

The anatomic cranial proximal radial angle is measured between the proximal anatomic radial axis and the proximal radial joint orientation line in the sagittal plane.

The following mean value have been reported for the anatomic cranial proximal radial angle :

  • Medium and Large breed dogs : 90.5 +/- 4.0° (Fox et al. 2006)

  • Small-breed nonchondrodystrophic dogs : 87.99 +/- 2.79° (Duncan et al.2022)

  • Shih-Tzu : 84.60 +/- 1.46° (Jeong et al. 2020)

  • Welsh Corgi : 77.62 +/- 5.09° (Kwon et al2022)

  • Dachshund : 75.69 +/- 4.56° (Kwon et al2022)

  • Pekingese : 86.52 +/- 4.13° (Kwon et al2022)

  • Matesese : 86.12 +/- 4.65° (Kwon et al2022)

  • Poodle : 88.13 +/- 3.91° (Kwon et al2022)

  • Beagle : 84.39 +/- 4.30° (Kwon et al2022)

  • Labrador Retrievers : 85° (range 84.1 to 86.1°) (Fox and Tomlinson 2018)
