Definition

The caudal part of the greater tubercle is more elongated and lower than the cranial part. It is located on the craniolateral aspect of the proximal end of the humerus and provides attachment for the infraspinatus and supraspinatus muscles.

In ungulates, the greater tubercle is divided into cranial and caudal parts.
