Corona (of claw/hoof)

The corona (of claw/hoof) is the proximal border area where the skin meets the hoof (or claw) wall, forming a ring around the top of the hoof/claw capsule. It contains the coronary epidermis and coronary corium, which are the main horn-producing tissues responsible for generating most of the hoof/claw wall.
