Definition

The coxal tuberosity is the lateroventral projection of the wing of ilium. It is an important landmak : it forsm the poins of the hip bisible in the horse and ox and palpalbe in the dog. 

In the dog and other carnivores,  the tuber coxae has two prominences; the cranial and caudal ventral iliac spines (not usually visible, both are readily palpable).
