  • Related terms: Cranial part of greater tubercle

Definition

Anne-Sophie Emeric

The cranial part of the greater tubercle is located on the craniolateral part of the proximal extremity of the humerus, separated from the head by the neck of the humerus, and it gives insertion to the supraspinous and infraspinous muscles. It corresponds to the summit of the greater tubercle and is more or less distinct depending on the species.

In ungulates, the greater tubercle is divided into cranial and caudal parts.
