Extremitas dorsalis
Definition
The dorsal extremity (cranial pole or head) of the spleen is situated near the fundus of the stomach.
It is considered to be fairly fixed in position by ligamentous attachments (primarily the gastrosplenic ligament).
Together with the ventral extremity (caudal pole or tail), it forms one of the two ends of the spleen.
