Dorsal mediastinum
Mediastinum dorsale
Definition
The dorsal mediastinum is the portion of the mediastinum located dorsal to the heart and the tracheal bifurcation. It contains the esophagus, the descending thoracic aorta, the azygos vein, and the tracheobronchial lymph nodes.
