Extensor process

Processus extensorius

Definition

In horses, the coronary border of distal phalanx forms a central eminence called the extensor process for attachment of common digital extensor tendon.

In carnivores, the extensor process is less developed (and not described in some sources). It serves for attachment of one of the four divisions of the tendon of extensor digitorum communis.
