Basis cranii externa

Definition

The external base of the cranium (Basis cranii externa) has the shape of a trapezius with a rostral great base. Four cranial bones enter in its constitution and determine four topographic subdivisions. The sub-occipital region and the sub-sphenoidal region are median, the two sub-temporal regions enclose them symmetrically
