Foramen mastoideum
Definition
The mastoid foramen is an opening in the caudal surface of the skull, dorsolateral to the foramen magnum. It is formed at the suture between the lateral part of the occipital bone and the mastoid process of the temporal bone.
The mastoid foramen contains the caudal meningeal vessels.
