Caput phalangis proximalis

Definition

The proximal phalanx (first phalanx) is composed by a proximal extremity (base), a shaft (body) and a distal extremity (head).

In horses, the distal trochlea is adaped for articulations with the proximal articular surface of the middle phalanx.
