Major circulus arteriosus of iris
Circulus arteriosus iridis major
Definition
The major circulus arteriosus of iris is formed by the two long posterior ciliary arteries, which anastomose with each other; the anterior ciliary arteries also contribute to its formation. It describes a characteristic circular trajectory within the iris. It supplies numerous radial branches in the iris and meridian branches in the ciliary body.
It is interrupted dorsally and ventrally in pigs and dogs.
