Definition

The renal surface is the dorsal part of the visceral surface of the spleen. It is directed medialward and downward. It is somewhat flattened, considerably narrower than the gastric surface, and is in relation with the upper part of the left kidney.

It is one of the three regions of the visceral surface of the spleen, along with the gastric surface and the intestinal surface.

It is absent in ruminants.
