The mesenteric root nodes (14) are the SMV and SMA lymph nodes that are located along the confluence of the superior mesenteric vein (SMV) (14v) into the portal vein and along the origin of the superior mesenteric artery (SMA) (14a), at the root of the mesentery. The lateral border is represented by the confluence of the gastrocolic vein (gastrocolic trunk) into the SMV; the lower border is located at the confluence of the middle colic vein into the SMVand the upper border is represented by the origin of the SMA from the aorta, at the lower hedge of the pancreas.
