Vena ileocolica
Definition
The ileocolic vein is a vein that drains the distal ileum, cecum, appendix (with the appendicular vein), and proximal ascending colon. It ends into the superior mesenteric vein in the majority of case but in some instances, the ileocolic vein may drain into the gastrocolic trunk.
