Inferior mesenteric nodes

The inferior mesenteric lymph nodes are a group of lymph nodes located around the inferior mesenteric artery, with lymph afferences from the descending colon, sigmoid and part of the rectum, and lymph efferences to the preaortic lymph nodes at the level of the inferior mesenteric artery.

They are subdivided as:

• Paracolic inferior mesenteric nodes

• Left colic nodes

• Sigmoid nodes

• Superior anorectal nodes
