Definition
The reflected head of the rectus femoris is one of the two proximal tendinous origins of the rectus femoris muscle, the other being the straight head. The reflected head originates from the supraacetabular groove (superior acetabular rim) and the hip joint capsule, whereas the direct head originates from the anterior inferior iliac spine. The reflected head has a broader footprint compared to the direct head, with dimensions averaging 47.7 mm by 16.8 mm.
