Definition
The superficial perineal pouch is located between the perineal membrane and the perineal fascia, forming a virtual closed space.
It contains:
Perineal branches of the pudendal nerve and internal pudendal vessels.
In male: root of the penis
In females: root of the clitoris and the vestibular bulbs
Note: the difference between the subcutaneous perineal space and the superficial perineal space remains unclear.
