Chiasma tendinum

  • Latin synonym: Chiasma tendinum flexoris profundus digitorum
  • Synonym: Tendinous chiasm of flexor digitorum profundus tendon
  • Eponym: Camper’s chiasm

Definition

At the level of the PIP joint, the two slips of each flexor digitorum superficialis (FDS) tendon reunite deep to the FDP tendon to form a tendinous chiasm  (Camper’s chiasm). The length and width of the chiasma tendinum in the middle finger is the longest and widest, while in the little finger it is the shortest and narrowest.
