Definition
The costodiaphragmatic recess (Costophrenic angle) is a potential space formed by the reflection of the parietal pleura where the costal pleura (lining the rib cage) meets the diaphragmatic pleura (covering the diaphragm). This recess represents the most caudal extent of the pleural cavity.
