Dental pulp
Pulpa dentis
Definition
Dental pulp is a specialized connective tissue located within the central cavity of the tooth, surrounded by the rigid structures of dentin, cement and enamel. It contains a variety of cell types, including odontoblasts, fibroblasts, immune cells, and dental pulp stem cells (DPSCs). The dental pulp is highly vascularized and innervated, playing crucial roles in the formation of dentin, providing nutrients, and responding to injuries through inflammatory and regenerative processes.
