General terms

Nomina generalia

Definition

Marjorie Champarou

The general terms in myology correspond to words used to describe muscle structures, their shapes (fusiform, quadrate, triangular muscle...), their functions (flexor, extensor, abductor muscle...), their types (skeletal, articular, cutaneous muscle...) and, broadly, their relationships within the body.

These terms also include concepts such as insertion, origin, or end, thus helping to standardize and clarify the study of muscle anatomy in veterinary science.
