Muscles of the thoracic limb

Musculi membri thoracici

Definition

Marjorie Champarou

The muscles of the thoracic limb are anatomical structures that ensure the mobility of the limb, the support of the trunk, and the performance of various locomotor functions depending on the species.

They are divided into extrinsic muscles (which connect the limb to the trunk), and intrinsic muscles located within the limb itself, particularly around the shoulder, arm, forearm, and the hand (carpus and digits).
