Musculus extensor digiti I [pollicis]

  • Synonym: Extensor muscle of first digit

Definition

The extensor digiti I and II muscles were formerly called m. extensor pollicis longus and indicis proprius In Car, these two muscles are combined together.

 

Origin: Middle third of the dorsolateral border of the ulna.

Insertion: Metacarpophalangeal joint of of digits one and two.

Action: Extension of digits one and two and adduction of digit one.

Nerve: Radialis.
