Glottis

Glottis

Definition

Stephan Mahler

The glottis is a narrow portion of the larynx delimited ventrally by the vocal folds and dorsally by the arytenoid cartilages. It delimits a lozenge-shaped opening: the rima glottidis. The movements of abduction and adduction of the arytenoid cartilages respectively open and close the glottis.
