Infratrochlear nerve
Nervus infratrochlearis
Definition
The infratrochlear nerve is the thinner branch of the nasociliary nerve. It detaches from the curve traced by the nasociliary nerve to join the medial angle of eye, passing under the trochlea. It gives palpebral branches to the conjonctive, the third eyelid to the lacrimal caruncle and to the adnexal glands. It passes through the infratrochlear notch to exit the orbit, and innervates the skin, the medial angle of the eye and the base of the nose.
In equids, it produces fine branches to frontal sinus. In goats, it gives cornual branches to the dermis of the horn.
