Ligamentum laterale

Definition

The lateral ligament of the temporomandibular joint stands on the lateral surface of the joint capsule. It is fibrous, white, quite thick; it extends from the base of the zygomatic process to the lateral extremity of the articular tubercule of the temporal bone until the neck of the mandible.
