Lateral vertebral foramen
Foramen vertebrale laterale
Definition
The lateral vertebral foramen is the conversion of a large caudal notch into a foramen, especially in thoracic vertebrae of cows, occasionally in horses and often doubled in pigs.
In dogs, the term "lateral vertebral foramen" is also used on the atlas (CI), as a foramen that perforates the craniodorsal part of the vertebral arch for the first cervical spinal nerve and vertebral artery.
