Middle phalangeal region
Regio phalangis mediae
Definition
In Horses, Donkeys and Ruminants, the short pastern bone (Corona) or middle phalangeal region (Regio coronalis) is not very distinct from the long pastern bone. It corresponds to the proximal interphalangeal joint (Regio interphalangea proximalis). It surmounts the hoof and forms a connection line at the limit of it: the coronary border (Margo coronalis) that is located at the level of the middle of the second phalanx (Regio phalangis mediae).
