Tarsal region

Regio tarsi

Definition

The tarsus is an important articulated region that unites the leg to the metatarsus, forming always a very clear angle. In animals, the region corresponding to the tarsal region (Regio tarsi) is called the shank or the hock. The dorsal surface (Facies dorsalis) forms the hock fold.
