Tegmental nuclei

Nuclei tegmenti

Definition

Juliette Garnodier

The tegmental nuclei are nuclei located in the midbrain tegmentum, including certain accessory oculomotor nuclei (interstitial, prestitial, precommissural) and other nuclei associated with the reticular formation, cranial nerves, neuromodulation, and the mesencephalic locomotor region.

The tegmental nuclei are particularly large in domestic carnivores.
