Perineum

The perineum refers to the region of the body located between the anus and the external genitalia. It includes the skin, muscles, and underlying structures that support the pelvic outlet.

This area varies slightly in definition depending on the species, but it is generally bounded:

• Dorsally by the base of the tail (caudal vertebrae),

• Ventrally by the scrotum or udder (in males or females, respectively),

• Laterally by the ischial tuberosities.
