Right lobe of liver

The right lobe of liver (right hepatic lobe; lobus hepatis dexter) is that portion of the liver that lies entirely, or almost entirely, to the right of the median plane.

The right medial hepatic lobe (lobus hepatis dexter media- lis) is fused to the medially lying quadrate lobe.

A whole right lobe of liver is only present in horses and ruminants. In carnivores, its parenchyma is usually completely divided into two sublobes, the right lateral hepatic lobe and the the right medial hepatic lobe.
