Definition
The medial frontobasal artery (medial orbitofrontal artery; frontoorbital artery (FOA)) is the first cortical branch of the A2 segment of anterior cerebral artery and arises a small distance away from the anterior communicating artery, it then passes to the inferior surface of the frontal lobe. It may uncommonly arise from the A1 segment just proximal to the anterior communicating artery.
