Right lymphatic duct

Ductus lymphaticus dexter

  • Latin synonym: Ductus thoracicus dexter
  • Synonym: Right thoracic duct; Right lymph duct
  • Related terms: Right lymphatic duct; Right thoracic duct

Definition

Antoine Micheau

The right lymphatic duct is in typical cases formed by the confluence of the right jugular trunk, right subclavian trunk and right bronchomediastinal trunk, but each of these three lymphatic trunk may open independently in the commencement of the right brachiocephalic vein.

In previous nomenclature (TA1), the right lymphatic duct was called the "right thoracic duct" (ductus thoracicus dexter), but as this trunk is located in the neck and not in the thorax, it's preferable to call it "right lymphatic duct" like in TA2.
