Definition

The brain venous vascular territory of the straight sinus concern the territories of the deep cerebral veins that drain into it:

  • The territory of superior thalamostriate: thalamus, internal capsule, globus pallidus and pericaudate white matter.

  • The territory of the basal vein (of Rosenthal): mesial temporal lobe, parahippocampal gyrus, uncus, and posterior insular region.

  • The territory of the great cerebral vein (of Galen): cerebellum, interpeduncular fossa, inferior horn of the lateral ventricle, medial parietal-occipital region, parahippocampal gyrus, midbrain, and choroid plexuses of the third and lateral ventricles.
