Area venae mediae superficialis cerebri

Definition

The superficial middle vein (Sylvian superficial vein) drains the veins from the insular cortex and the parenchyma around sylvian fissure.

The superficial middle vein ends into the sphenoparietal sinus or sometimes directly into the cavernous sinus.
