Territory of the superior anastomotic vein (of Trolard)

Area venae anastomoticae superioris (Trolard)

Definition

The superior anastomotic vein (vein of Trolard) usually drains the postcentral sulcus, or less frequently, the central sulcus or more anterior cortical sulci. The size of the superior anastomotic vein (and the importance of its territory) varies in inverse relationship with the size of the inferior anastomotic vein (of Labbe) and the terminal part of the superficial middle vein (of Sylvius).
