Tibiofibular trunk

Truncus tibiofibularis

Definition

The tibiofibular trunk (Tibioperoneal trunk, TP trunk) is a short arterial trunk that is the direct continuation of the popliteal artery after the origin of the anterior tibial artery, and that divides into the fibular artery and the posterior tibial artery.

This term is not officially listed in the official Terminologia Anatomica 1&2 but is widely used in daily practice.
