Chin

Mentum

Definition

Chloé Paris

The chin is a fleshy prominence located caudal to the lower lip.

It is much less marked in animals than in humans, where it has a bony support (the mental protuberance of the mandible) that is absent in the former. This prominence is most distinct in equids and cattle.
